Fundamental parameters from future lattice calculations

چکیده
We describe the impact that future lattice QCD calculations can have on the determination of the parameters of the standard model (quark masses, coupling constant, and particularly the CKM matrix elements) and the search for new physics beyond. We consider the impact of calculations requiring CPU resources ranging from what is possible by the end of 2007 (≈ 10 TFlop-yr with USQCD resources), through 50 TF-Yr and up to 500 TF-Yr. We begin with a brief description of progress in the last 5 years and an overview of what should be possible in the next 5 years, focusing on overconstraining the CKM matrix elements. Subsequent sections detail, respectively, the status and future of calculations of the quark masses, the CPU time required for future ensembles of lattice gauge configurations, and the status and future of calculations of electroweak matrix elements which constrain CKM elements. We end with a summary and outlook.1

Status of Lattice QCD
Significant progress has recently been achieved in the lattice gauge theory calculations required for extracting the fundamental parameters of the standard model from experiment. Recent lattice determinations of such quantities as the kaon B parameter, the mass of the b quark, and the strong coupling constant have produced results and uncertainties as good or better than the best conventional d...
متن کاملB Physics on the Lattice: Present and Future
Recent experimental measurements and lattice QCD calculations are now reaching the precision (and accuracy) needed to over-constrain the CKM parameters ρ̄ and η̄. In this brief review, I discuss the current status of lattice QCD calculations needed to connect the experimental measurements of B meson properties to quark flavor-changing parameters. Special attention is given to B → πlν, which is be...

Bd and Bs meson systems play a fundamental role to test and improve our understanding of Standard Model flavor dynamics. The mixing parameters ∆md,s represent important constraints in the unitarity triangle analysis. Their theoretical estimates require non-perturbative calculations of B-meson decay constants and B-parameters; accurate results, recently obtained from the lattice, are reviewed. O...

A profile hidden Markov model (PHMM) is widely used in assigning protein sequences to protein families. In this model, the hidden states only depend on the previous hidden state and observations are independent given hidden states. In other words, in the PHMM, only the information of the left side of a hidden state is considered. However, it makes sense that considering the information of the b...
